FAMILY REUNION VISA (FOREIGN CITIZEN WITH FOREIGN CITIZEN)

Note: - Application for this Visa to be made directly at Consulate of Italy IN MANILA PHILIPPINES.

  • Family reunion visas are visas intended to reunite family members. It's a National visa (IMMIGRANT VISA) type "D" and the Length of stay is between 91 and 365 days - Applicants who will be considered as family members are
    • the lawful spouse married under civil law (religious marriages, of any kind, and polygamy are not recognized by the Italian laws),
    • the children under 21 years (or economically at charge). In case of adopted children, they must have been lawfully adopted in accordance with the laws in philippines
    • the mother and father.
      There are two types of family reunion visas:
    • the first one concerns the family members wishing to join the spouse/parents/children that are lawfully residing in Italy;
    • the second one concerns the family members who wish to settle in Italy at the same time of their family member who is going to obtain an authorization to work or study in Italy.

In both cases, the family reunion visas must be duly authorized through the so-called "NULLA OSTA" (No objection certificate issued by the "Sportello Unico per l'Immigrazione" - Immigration Office in Italy). In this authorization are listed the family members who may apply for this visa. It has to be noted that being listed in this authorization does not implies the visa would be directly issued. In fact, the family members have to provide documentary evidence about the family ties and they can submit their visa application only after that their marriage certificate, birth certificates, and others certificates have been duly verified and legalized by the Legalization Section of the Consulate General of Italy,

“ Important information for foreigners When entering Italy, even if you have already obtained a visa, the border authorities are authorised to check the documentation required for obtaining the visa itself.

 To bring your family to Italy you must show that you have:
• an annual income, from legal sources (for example as an employed or self-employed worker), which is not lower than the annual amount of the welfare benefit, increased by half of that amount for each family member reunited with you. (For 2009, you must show an income of at least €7,976.47 for one family member reunited with you, an income of at least €10,635.30 for two additional family members, €13,294.12 for three family mem- bers, €15,952.95 for four family members and so on. If two or more children aged under 14 are reunited with you, the income to be shown remains double the annual amount of the welfare benefit (€10,635.30 for 2009).
• accommodation which complies with health and hygiene standards and public residential building standards, verified by the competent municipal officials.
The application for a no-objection certificate for family reunification must be presented at the Single Information Point for Immigration, at the Prefecture of residence, using the com- puterised process. To do this you can ask for help from organisations offering assistance or competent offices.
When you have obtained authorisation, your relatives must present the documents demon- strating their relationship by blood or by marriage to you at the Italian Consulate in their own country in order to obtain the entry visa.
